have installed 5/6 point driving harness systems to your car. See details below
or visit http://www.pca.org .
Registration is available by clicking here or the Driver's Education tab at the top of the page.
Taste of the Track Program
This program allows you as a PCA member or non-member who
have never experienced high performance driver’s education to learn more about
DE without driving your own Porsche. If you’re not sure about DE and want to
experience it, you can be a passenger in an approved instructor’s Porsche. Do
you have a spouse or friends not sure about DE? Invite other Porsche owners who
have never attended a DE – this is sure to get them more involved with your
Regional DE in the future. How about a ride with Randy Pobst in one of his
cars? Just pay a modest entry fee of $20 and complete a Taste of the Track
application at the track. Program description and application are both located
in the PCA docs library. If you want, you can print it, complete it and bring it
with you. We’ll have extra applications on hand.
DE Instruction
Ian Baas
may be available to ride along with you in your Porsche as your instructor.
All students registered for DE will automatically be entered into a drawing and
a select few winners will have the opportunity to take along Ian Baas as your
instructor in one of your run group sessions.
Chalk Talk
Randy Pobst and Ian Baas will also conduct a special chalk
talk session. Do you have questions about sensory input, braking, corner entry,
corner exit, etc.? Randy and Ian will answer your questions and provide insights
into the driving experience.
APR Tuned
APR, world's leading Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche performance
engineering firm is entering professional racing with the formation of
APR Motorsport, LLC and has signed Randy Pobst and co-drivers, Ian Baas
and Mark White. It will campaign three Volkswagen GTI race cars in the Koni
Challenge Sport Touring class of Grand Am in 2008.
They are currently in the process of moving into a new 12-acre/38,000 square
feet corporate headquarters Auburn/Opelika, Alabama. The facility is complete
with Pro-e CAD design,
two chassis dynos, engine dyno, CNC milling, CNC lathe, stereolithography
machine, as well as
other state of the art equipment, and features a race shop for the exclusive use
of the team as well as a nearly one mile test track for car development.
APR is responsible for Randy, Ian and Mark attending this
event. They’ll be with us all weekend to help you improve your driving shills
and get acquainted with their services to enhance the performance of your
Porsche.
Additional Information
Important Notice
Mandatory 01 January 2008
Harness Standard, revised 1/22/07
Harness Systems:
If the participant chooses
to install a 5/6 point driving harness (four point harness systems are not
safe and therefore not allowed) several changes to the automobile must be
made to create a safe occupant restraint system. Harnesses must include an
antisubmarine strap and be mounted in an approved manner consistent with the
manufacturer’s instructions. The Harness system must be used in conjunction with
a seat which has the supplied routing holes for the shoulder and anti-submarine
belts. All pieces of the restraint system must be installed in accordance with
the manufacturer’s instructions.
This means that a seat is
required to have the proper routing holes for the harness as supplied by the
seat manufacturer for the shoulder, lap and anti-submarine straps. The shoulder
straps should be mounted at 90 degrees to the axis of your spine or at most 40
degrees down from horizontal. Because the addition of the harness system means
that the occupants are upright in the vehicle, a properly padded roll bar or
roll cage is strongly encouraged to complete the SYSTEM. The use of one without
the other may result in an unsafe environment and is not a COMPLETE SYSTEM. Due
to UV degradation and wear the harness webbing must be replaced every five
years.
