Magic City Challenge Club Race at Barber Motorsports Park
June 20th-22nd, 2008
Welcome! The Alabama Region, PCA cordially invites you to join us for another great weekend, June 20th through the 22nd. We have modified our format to make it more enjoyable for everyone and more “flight friendly” for some.
Two things of importance that will be continued this year…
First of all, Barber Motorsports Park operates in consideration for the local community with a 104 db sound limit. Please make the necessary adjustments to your car prior to your arrival. Your competitors will be doing the same, or you’ll have them beat before the racing starts!
Secondly, the Alabama Region, PCA will again underwrite track damage for each competitor. We sincerely hope none of you are involved in an accident and you’ll be as proactive as possible to avoid any incidence of consequence. The great news is that many runoff areas have been moved back and/or lined with “soft barriers”. They have even paved some of the run-off areas. Those of you who have raced with us before will greatly appreciate these changes. Additionally, Zoom Motorsports, the governing organization of BMP has significantly lowered track damage assessments. To help limit an “excessively expensive” weekend, the Alabama Region will limit your exposure to track damage to $250. We require, however, that if you are involved in an incident exceeding that amount that payment be made to the club prior to your departure.
Due to track covenants, we cannot open the gates before 7:00 PM, Thursday evening. While we have no control over this, we will make every effort to speed up the registration, paddock setup and camping for you.
Friday will be a test and tune for an additional charge of $150. This is a great time to find the right lines on an exceptionally technical track.
This is the most demanding track that most of us have ever driven. Often, when a driver is asked why they had an incident, the reply is, “I forgot where I was on the track”. Friday test and tune will be run under Drivers Ed rules. There will only be one corner worker per station on Friday, so passing is allowed on any of the five “straights” with a hand signal from the competitor you are overtaking only. Hey, if this is your first time at the track, $150 is a GREAT investment!
Track rules, tentative schedule, maps, track video, area motels, etc. are all here on our website…
A hearty “Welcome” to a great event from all the fine folks in the Alabama Region, PCA and PCA Club Racing!
